Many thanks to the Times Colonist for printing my short letter to the editor under the title: Check parking report, ignore the wild claims

Check parking report, ignore the wild claims
Re: “How to destroy a city by reducing parking,” letter, Sept. 4.
The letter suggests that the city is planning to “reduce the availability of parking downtown by 50%.” That is simply untrue.
The staff report on parking says no such thing, and nothing remotely like it.
There have been a lot of wild claims circulating about the staff parking report, which has been on the city’s website for more than a week. It looks like those with the wildest claims haven’t read it.
So I urge residents to ignore the noise, and instead read the staff report on the city website (linked at www.davethompsonvictoria.ca/the-truth-about-parking-in-victoria/).
The Sept. 6 Times Colonist story, “Victoria seeking public input on proposal to reduce parking” provides a good short summary too.
